Zuck: “We Can Build a Positive Future”

Mark Zuckerberg posted a long note arguing AI labs don’t need a pause; they need to treat trust and alignment as the product. Pointing back to Meta’s “The Future Is for Everyone” essay, he says every lab already has the incentive and the power to ship safely without waiting for everyone else to agree.

The Rundown

  • His core claim: people won’t use agents that don’t do what they ask, so alignment isn’t charity; it’s becoming the main capability that separates winners from labs that fall behind. Slowing capability progress until “alignment catches up” misses that trust is the race.

  • Liability is the other stick. Labs that cause harm face real legal exposure, so safety isn’t only a values speech.

  • Meta’s proof point: it delayed shipping Muse for several months to focus on safety and security. Zuckerberg’s flex is that Meta didn’t demand an industry-wide halt first; it just held its own product. David Sacks amplified that line on X.

  • He also pushes independent evaluators (Meta Superintelligence Labs already uses them) and a bigger, more diverse evaluator ecosystem. And he says committing most compute to serving people, not racing recursive self-improvement, is one of the best safety moves; Meta claims it’s already made that commitment.

  • The closer: a “positive future” depends on the right balance of power, and that balance is still within reach.

Zuckerberg’s pitch is market discipline dressed as safety doctrine: don’t pause the industry, out-align the competition, hold your own ship dates when needed, and keep most of the compute pointed at users, not at a recursive arms race.

Top Stories: BCC-Gate Update, Neuro Gum Hits 9-Figures, Realgood Foods: $1.2B, SMACKIN Launches Cashews

A shared Google Sheet titled “Cowboys Thread - Offers & Deals” logs every promo dropped since Jac’s thank-you ask: Humankind, Maple Boost, Gruns, Seek, Wayve Wear, ENAK, Prox, AeroPress, Spikeball, Commerce Roundtable, Memelord, Northbeam’s Blackstone demo bribe, Otherside’s $0 Q4 CTV retainer, Comcast TV ad credits, Postscript free SMS, Levers NAD+/peptides, Insense’s TikTok Shop summit invite, golf after Roundtable, a Masters house trip, even a College Football 27 dynasty match.

Functional gum brand Neuro crossed $100M in revenue last year and just locked nationwide Costco distribution after a three-month test in 235 warehouses got fast-tracked.

The frozen/refrigerated brand sells “better-for-you” versions of comfort favorites across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Distribution sits north of 16,000 stores nationwide. The milestone is cumulative retail sell-through, not a single-year revenue print, but it’s the clearest scoreboard yet for a protein-forward freezer brand that rode better macros into mass retail.

Sunflower-seed brand SMACKIN’ is extending into cashews on September 22 with two SKUs: Backyard BBQ and Cinnamon Churro.
