Hey, we're live. Tesla made a Roadster flip and hover over a ramp, Google's Universal Cart is live in Search and Gemini, and Hot Wheels fans are flipping cars over to look at the bottom. Rabah Rahil, CMO of Tie, is guest host, with Eric Bandholz, Dawson Gibbs, Kaia Rhodes, and Blake Driver in the saddle. Watch the show live →
✶ THE CURRENT THING ✶ PRODUCT LAUNCH
Tesla just launched a "flying car." Your niche needs its version.
Tesla posted the clip with three words: "Real life, baby" (Tesla on X). At a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas, a white two-seat Roadster raced up a curved ramp, clung to it upside down, vaulted off, flipped in mid-air, hovered slowly, and landed. Tesla's timer showed zero to 60 mph in under one second (CNBC).
It's still a prototype. Tesla didn't announce a price, Musk said production starts in 2028, and buyers have been putting down $50,000 deposits since 2017. CNBC says the Roadster isn't likely to have any material financial impact on Tesla (CNBC). But the whole internet watched a car do a backflip.
OPERATOR TAKE: You don't need rocket thrusters. Find the one demo in your category that nobody believes until they see it, film it, and make it your launch.

✶ PRODUCT & MARGIN
Mattel and the Decline of Civilization
A photo of Hot Wheels undercarriages from 1997, 2012, and 2026 went viral, with the newest one nearly blank. Molson Hart, who makes toys himself, doesn't buy the cost-savings excuse: "With Hot Wheels volume, the mold costs don't matter. The part volume is so high, that they get amortized to zero. It's just lame and lazy work from Mattel." He does have some sympathy: "Fewer kids means fewer sales and, unlike Lego, it's not so easy to start selling Hot Wheels to adults" (Molson Hart on X).
OPERATOR TAKE: Customers notice when the product gets worse. If you cut cost, cut it somewhere they never look, and never at the part they show their friends.
✶ AGENTIC COMMERCE
Google's Universal Cart Is Live in Search and Gemini
Google VP Vidhya Srinivasan: "Universal Cart is rolling out in the U.S across Google Search and the Gemini app. It's giving everyone an intelligent shopping cart and a new hub for shopping on Google" (Vidhya Srinivasan on X). Shoppers can save items from multiple retailers, get alerts when prices drop or items come back in stock, and see promo codes and credit-card perks. Checkout runs on Google's Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) (TechCrunch).
OPERATOR TAKE: If your products can land in a Google cart next to a competitor's, price drops and restocks now trigger alerts. Keep your feed prices and stock levels accurate.
✶ FEATURED SPONSOR: ROKT AFTERSELL
Make more profit from the orders you're already getting.
Most DTC brands are obsessed with getting the next customer. But the real lever? Making more profit from the orders you already have.
If you could add $3–4 to every order without touching your ads, would that be worthwhile? That's exactly what brands like OluKai, Cozy Earth, and GrooveLife are doing with Rokt AfterSell.
Adding post-purchase upsells and downsells from cart through the thank-you page and stacking an extra 30 to 50 cents per order just by showing premium offers from brands like Disney+, HelloFresh, and Venmo—it's high-margin revenue straight to your bottom line. No hit to conversion, no impact on LTV, and you can be live in minutes.
If you're already getting orders, you should be getting more out of them.

1. Kraft turned parmesan into a bag charm
Kraft's Pocket Parm is a mini grated-cheese bottle that clips onto a bag with a collectible charm. It comes in original plus three new flavors: Tomato Basil Parmesan, Garlic Herb Parmesan, and Cheddar. It's being handed out from a Kraft truck in Los Angeles and then Orlando the week of Oct. 26, ahead of full-size versions in January 2027 (People). Hayley Thorfinnson's take: "bag charms are all the rage, from lip gloss to labubus the trend continues to drive loyalty, love and a little bit of FOMO" (Hayley Thorfinnson on LinkedIn).
2. Chick-fil-A's first new sauce in 10 years
Chick-fil-A announced Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce, its first new permanent sauce since Sweet & Spicy Sriracha in 2016. It mixes the classic sauce with spicy peppers and a touch of sweetness (Complex on X).
3. Halloween sticker shock
A shelf of candy bags all priced at $24.92 got the caption "The porch light will be off this year" (Thrilla the Gorilla on X). For scale, a busy neighborhood house hands out about 300 to 600 pieces. The math: 200 kids × 2 pieces = 400 pieces. Buy for your best guess plus about 25%, because most kids show up between 6 and 8 pm and you can't restock mid-rush.
4. Caitlin Clark's Collab shop at Dick's
The Caitlin Clark Collab is launching in select Dick's House of Sport stores, pairing her signature shoe with exclusive apparel in a dedicated shop (Madison McDonough on LinkedIn). Nike CEO Elliott Hill called the Caitlin 1 "the largest women's signature shoe launch in Nike's history," and it nearly sold out within two hours of release (Yahoo Sports).
5. Walmart's one-hour pickup
Walmart launched Express Pickup, with orders ready curbside in about an hour at 500 stores and free for Walmart+ members, expanding nationwide in the coming weeks. U.S. CEO David Guggina: "We have almost 40% of all deliveries now today from our stores delivering fast, meaning delivered in hours or delivered in minutes" (Retail Dive).

ROAS doesn't matter
Nate Lorenzen: "DTC Twitter advice is make AI music videos so AI made a music video about other DTC Twitter advice." Tap the picture to watch (Nate Lorenzen on X).
