Fable 5 & Mythos 5: Suspended - A U.S. government export-control directive citing national security forced Anthropic to abruptly disable its two most advanced AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, for every customer, because the order barred access by any foreign national, even Anthropic's own non-citizen employees. Anthropic says the move stems from a narrow, easily-discoverable jailbreak it considers minor, calls the whole thing a misunderstanding, and is working to restore access. But it appears to be the first time a government has pulled a publicly deployed AI model offline.

Fox Is Buying Roku for $22 Billion - Fox is acquiring Roku in a cash-and-stock deal worth about $22 billion ($160/share), folding the platform's 100M+ streaming households and their first-party data into a portfolio that already includes Tubi. The combination would become the third-largest player in US TV by viewing share, handing Fox both the pipes and the audience data behind America's living-room screens, pending shareholder and regulatory approval expected to close in early 2027.

NewBloom.Shop - Toxic Fashion Detector - A Barcelona founder is building NewBloom (formerly Toxic Fashion Detector), an "Amazon for non-toxic clothes" where you paste any product link and AI reads the material composition to spit out a health score and clean-label alternatives. After months of free access and 522 users, she's now rolling out Stripe paywalls, gating deeper material analysis behind subscriptions while letting brands pay to verify and claim their own product pages.

Your AI problem isn't about tech debt. It's a process problem.

By Colin Dougherty

Everyone wants to be "AI native," but most businesses imply they tacked Claude onto an existing disorganized process. David Baker just left his position as Chief Revenue Officer at Beekman 1802 to start a skincare business from scratch, and David's main advantage is that he is constructing without baggage.

And when I asked him what non-obvious AI potential most operators are missing, he didn't mention a tool. He said "process."

Established brands look at AI and think the work is connecting everything. Cure the tech debt. Get one source of truth so net sales means the same number on every dashboard. That has to happen, sure. But David called it the shiny object.

The real blocker is process debt.

Ask yourself: do you have an outlined process that everyone at the company actually repeats? If you don't, throwing an agent at the work won't save you. He compared it to a new hire. You'd never sit a junior person down on day one and say "go build me a full campaign." You bring them along. You teach them your language. An agent is no different, and if you speak a language you never wrote down, you've already weakened it.

Then there's the part nobody budgets for. The edge cases. Every legacy org has a SKU someone named wrong years ago, and everyone just remembers to work around it. David figures there are a thousand to ten thousand of those buried in a real company. Point AI at "pull everything in this category" and it misses the one a human wouldn't. You only fix it by hitting the mistake, then teaching the system, one canonical correction at a time.

That’s why truly AI native businesses can progress faster.

The tools are the easiest part. Anyone can link them. The labor that multiplies is the tedious inner work that no one wants to do: building a new process from the ground up.
